From May through October Ibiza turns into the nightclub capital of the Mediterranean, if not the world. This famous Balearic island attracts those who like to party from sunset until sunrise before spending an afternoon of shut-eye on the beach in preparation for another night of hedonism in the nightclubs.
If you’re heading to Ibiza during the clubbing season and are prepared to take full of advantage of this island, a few survival tips might help you to make it through your stay.
Buy before departure
Ibiza is home to some of the world’s most highly ranked nightclubs and you can pay an equally high price for the tickets. However, it’s still possible to avoid the queues and budget-biting prices. Booking your club tickets online through an official Ibiza club vendor can save you up to a third off the regular price for venues such as Pacha, Amnesia and Space. Alternatively, you can give the big venues a miss once in a while and get in on the action at free bars such as Café Mambo and Ibiza Rocks Bar. You’ll find many headline DJs playing at the bars and the only price you’ll pay is for the drinks.
Avoid the hangovers
If you’re young and fit enough to hit the clubs all night, every night, on party holidays then maybe you can cope with a hangover, or at least won’t have too many problems with them, especially if you get enough sleep during the day. Stay well hydrated the day after, eat some light carbs such as toast to bring your sugar levels up slowly and make sure to eat plenty before you head out again to soak up those drinks. Most people do tend to recuperate for a few hours on the beach but don’t overdo this during the hot summer months; temperatures can reach 40°C during July and August. Sun protection is important and sunburn is never a good look, so download a sunscreen reminder app to your phone to ensure you’ll know exactly when it’s time to dab on the protection and what type of lotion will suit your skin.
Discover the island
There’s a lot more to Ibiza than just the clubs and this island is home to some amazing beaches. Of course, Ibiza Town is a must visit destination. Take some boat tours or hire a bike or jeep and discover the incredible beauty of spots such as the Es Verda Nature Reserve or the beaches on the nearby island of Formentera. If you’re having a little trouble finding a free internet connection then download a WiFi hotspot detection app to your phone before departing for the island — this app can be a lifesaver and will help you to avoid those network data downloading charges.
Party holidays don’t come much better than Ibiza and this destination should be experienced at least once in a lifetime. These tips should help you to make it through your vacation but always remember — a pair of shades on this island is compulsory.
