Photo Round Up – Week 31

5 photo round up of what I saw/did this week.

Hope you all enjoy them.

Quick Update: I am now in Essaouira, Morocco and will be here a week or two. My blog is still about 2 weeks behind. I have so much to say about the Sahara Expedition, that I can not wait to write all about it. First though I need to write about Fez and Marrakech. I also will be doing a IN PHOTOS post on it like I did for Chefchaouen. I really hope you enjoy these five photos they are what I think are the best shots of my 4 days away this week.

A shot of one of the sand dunes at the Zagora, Morocco portion of the Sahara. We spent the night on the dune with a few blankets and laid there watching the million stars above us and the many shooting stars. We then saw the sun rise and ahhh it was just amazing. I was not that happy that it was sand dunes and then rocks. I wanted to be surrounded by sand and well that happened the night after next.

Leaving Zagora all these children were out there asking for money or anything. I don't like giving money to children but I had a bag of chocolate chip cookies that I thought they would enjoy more than me. I asked them if we could please take a photo together and then I will hand out the cookies. As soon as the picture was taken and I was going to hand out the cookies I was like attacked by all of them. It was such a cool feeling. For some reason when I see this I think this is realy Africa. Not that any of the other pics I have taken isn't, but this is a picture I have always seen so many other people take one like this I never thought I would have a photo surrounded by children from a small town in Africa. Ahh I love this picture and it will be framed when I get home.

No words can describe this. It was amazing to watch the sun rise in Merzouga. I loved that they took all of us through different routes and as I was further behind them I was able to capture this shot at the sun rised. I love that it is all dark except for the sun and sky. I love the outlines of the man taking the 5 camels and people down. Ahh the outlines are amazing.

This is Merzouga, Morocco I still can not describe it. I love all the sand surrounding him, love the footsteps in the sand and the we see him walking into the desert.

This is the very start of the desert. I love this shot because you can see fine sand that makes up the SAHARA. I still wonder where all this sand comes from & how it just all stays there. It was so amazing to be able to walk through it barefoot & sit there surrounded by endless dunes of sand all over.

Such amazing photos! My favorite is the third one with the camels and the sun behind. It seems so romantic sleeping under a million stars surrounded by all that sand. I’ve always associated the desert with something mysterious and magical. Wish I could be there too.
