10 photo round up of what I saw/did these last 2 weeks.

Hope you all enjoy them

WEEK 60

Darjeeling, India

I thought I had been to places with a lot of begging children, but then I came to India and wow just wow. Never in my life I have ever seen so many. We were outside of the train station in a jeep waiting for it to make its way up the mountain for Darjeeling. This adorable little girl would not leave my window… she kept saying “money… food”. I sadly couldn’t give her money because many other beggars were watching to see if I gave her money for them to rush over. You know the rule… you give one you give all. I snapped this photo only because she was outside my window for a long time and because she was too cute and shouldn’t be on the streets begging for money.

Darjeeling, India

I love when I get to a new place and one of the 1st shots I get is one of my favorites. This is Darjeeling from the window of the 1st restaurant we ate at upon arriving in this beautiful town. We spent a week in this town and loved it. It was a nice break from the crazy hectic India we had been dealing with. I love this photo because it looks like it’s already framed with the window as the frame.

Darjeeling, India

Love this photo because it is so simple a lady resting against a water pipe. As we were walking around Darjeeling I saw this lady just standing there in deep thought about something. When I look at this photo I wonder what she is thinking.

Darjeeling, India

On this trip I have probably taken more photos of Churches than anything else. They are all over the world… who would have thought that??? Well this one turned out to be one of my favorite shots. I just love how the church just blends in with the grass and into the rest of the cement steps below it. I love that the entire photo looks gritty. I don’t know why it just draws me in from every direction and it’s just a church.

Darjeeling, India

Darjeeling is world famous for it’s tea. As you make your way up the mountain to get to the town you see tea plantation after tea plantation. One of the days we were there we made our way to see a tea plantation. We took a tour of the factory and then spent a while just looking out over the fields and managed to even watch a few people picking tea. I love this photo because the man is walking by me as if I am not even there and in the back you can see two women picking tea leaves.

 WEEK 61

Kolkata, India

Ahh the trains in India are one of the most amazing shows on the earth. Seriously everything about them is a nightmare and I mean it, but are treat to watch. It could be waiting for the train, on the train fighting for your seat or just looking out the window watching other trains go buy it’s amazing. This is a shot I love because the window bars are parallel to the tracks and because at each door and window people are at them.

Kolkata, India

Since arriving to Kolkata I have become obsessed with taking photos of the TAXIS here. I love love LOVE them. They are so beautiful, bright, yellow & cute. I just wanna pick them up and play with them. I love this photo because it is a women in yellow surrounded be many Taxis.

Kolkata, India

I love taking a photo right before someone reaches out to you and says NO PHOTOS… oops! Well I am glad I got this shot because Val & I spent an entire day at the movies this week. We were going to watch HATE STORY because we had seen posters to it all over the city but when we were about to buy the tickets the guy told us VICKY DONOR was better… we had no clue what it was about until we saw this poster and well Val & I both thought yeah a movie about a sperm donor would be more interesting and yes it was. I will tell you more about it and our day at the movies in a full blog post!

Kolkata, India

We spent a lot of time inKolkat walking everywhere. I always think it’s a nicer way to see and explore a city, but in India it’s a way to keep sain… I mean it because that way you don’t have to deal with cabs, tuk tuks or anything about prices etc. While I walk I like to take hip shots and just shoot at random things. This is a shot I got of the days we walked around. I love the expression of her face as she was asking us for money.

Kolkata, India

The human pulled rick shaw. I had heard of it, but never seen it until I got to Kolkata. I honestly don't know if I like it or not. I mean I know the guy doing the worked is being paid, but it's just chump change from someone with money. Most of the guys you see doing the pulling like this one... look old, skinny and so weak. Most look like they are always struggling. It's interesting to see these all over the city and all the traffic, but I don't know how I feel about it. What do you think?
