Photo Round Up – Week 26

5 photo round up of what I saw/did this week.

Hope you all enjoy them.

Before I post the 5 pictures, I can’t believe I am on WEEK 26. Ummm that is HALF A YEAR… that is insane! I know I have had my moments recently, but I am loving it. Thanks for joining me on this crazy ride and enjoying my weekly photos.

Visiting a portion of the Berlin Wall was unreal. I think the images of the wall coming down are embedded in everyone's mind, because it was such a historic moment for the world. While visiting it I did not want to get a regular photo of the wall (even though I did take a lot of photos like that) I wanted to get a unique shot. Looking at the picture on the right you see a rail that you are not supposed to cross, but wanting to get this shot I crossed under and took this shot on the first try and love it. I think it captures a city divided very well. Just imagine being on either side and not being able to cross over.

Visiting the "Fuck Parade" in Berlin was not in my plans. It just so happened that while I was there it was going on and I am glad it was. It is not what you think... so don't think dirty. It was just a HUGE parade that ran through out the whole city with a few floats with LOUD CRAZY music blaring an tons of people walking behind them jumping and dancing and drinking along. This shot was captured towards the end of the parade. In front of me was the masses of people, but behind me was this fella dancing the night away in front of truck. I loved how I could only see his silhouette so thought I would try and capture that moment and I did. I ended up liking the picture very much. I love that I can see half his silhouette and that on the edges you can see random people dancing or walking around.

This is by far my favorite shot of the week and think one of my best of all time. This is a close up shot of a guard at the Prague Castle. Thanks to my new cam I can zoom up to 10x's. I was a bit far from him, but was able to get a shot of him with out him noticing me. I love the fact that he is standing there with out moving a muscle with his EYES CLOSED. I always wondered how they managed to not move or laugh when people are in their face or taking pictures of them. I guess now we all know why and how they manage it.

The Charles Bridge (Karlův most) in Prague is one of the most famous bridges in the world and is lined up with so many amazing statues. I could seriously spend ages taking pictures of them all, bu the one that caught my eye and I fell in love with was this one. At the time I had no clue who he was, but when I got home I did some research. Turns out he is John of Nepomuk and "was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On 20 March 1393 he was thrown into the riverVltava from the Charles Bridge at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia." He is now a saint and the reason he has 5 stars around his is because on the night he was thrown over only 5 stars were shining. I love this shot because instead of getting the usual a shot of the WHOLE STATUE I zoomed in and got up close and personal. I love the color he has become and love that it looks so aged and love his face and love the webs all over it. I also love that the sky is a solid shade of blue. I don't know what it is but this staute is just amazing and trust me I have seen so many!

A shot of the famous Charles Bridge (Karlův most) and Prague Castle by night. I love that even from way up there the castle is still reflected on the river.

  1. Great shots, especially the last one, which is fantastic! Having spent my childhood stuck within the country that created this damn wall, the first photo means a lot to me. Am glad that it’s gone, otherwise I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing 😉

That photo of the guard in Prague is quite a revelation. I also wonder how they manage to have a blank reaction on their faces when they're on duty especially when tourists or visitors (especially kids) tries to distract them. I also wonder what they usually think while they're at it? Hmmm…
