Photo Round Up – Week 53

5 photo round up of what I saw/did this week.

Hope you all enjoy them.

My Birthday in Cairo, Egypt!

Friday was my 26th Birthday & it was one of the most memorable ones I have ever had in my life. The amazing friends I have met in Cario surprised me witha room decorated with balloons, streamers & a cake with lit candles. All I wanted for us was to sit around and drink but they went all out... we then got our drink on & danced the night way! I wish I could post a photo of us on my blog, but they have asked me not too and will respect that.

Stella Beer from Egypt!

The next day I woke up not wanting to ever drink again in my life... but yeah that night the birthday celebration continued at a local bar in Cairo where we drank like forever! Didn't get home until like 4am and was also a great night!!!

Men smoking shisha in Cairo!

In the back of my mind I kept thinking I can NOT leave Egypt until I get a good shot of men smoking shisha & well I finally got it. This was taken during my 2nd visit to "Garbage City" & I love it! They asked me to please take a photo of them & I couldn't help but take one!

Red Pyramid of Egypt!

I visited the Pyramids of Dahshur this week and this is my favorite shot of the Red Pyramid. "The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid, is the largest of the three major pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis. Named for the rusty reddish hue of its stones, it is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufu and Khafra at Giza. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest man-made structure in the world. It is also believed to be the world's first successful attempt at constructing a "true" smooth-sided pyramid." - Wikipedia

Bent Pyramid of Egypt!

Also at the Pyramids of Dahshur is the Bent Pyramid. "The Bent Pyramid is an ancient Egyptian pyramid located at the royal necropolis of Dahshur, approximately 40 kilometres south of Cairo, built under the Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sneferu (c. 2600 BC). A unique example of early pyramid development in Egypt, this was the second pyramid built by Sneferu. The lower part of the pyramid rises from the desert at a 54-degree inclination, but the top section is built at the shallower angle of 43 degrees, lending the pyramid its very obvious "bent" appearance." - Wikipedia

  1. What a sweet surprise they held a birthday party for you! I’m glad you are so respectful of their wishes to keep their photos offline. I’ve never seen the “bent pyramid” before, it’s so amazing that the ancient civilizations built it by hand.

    • I know I was so surprised Pat… it was amazing! Oh & yes so much to see in Egypt, and it’s crazy what these people were able to build thousands of years ago. It’s so damn interesting.

  2. Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a great time. Where are you headed next?
