Photo Round Up – Week 62 & 63

10 photo round up of what I saw/did these last 2 weeks.

Hope you all enjoy them

WEEK 62

Street Art House

Y'all know I am a sucker for random street art on anything and well while we were in Fort Kochi we passed this house that was tag with tons of words, names & random things. I had to photograph and in the end I really like the photo because I didn't realize the man in the center.

Faces of India!

As we wandered through Fort Kochi we also came across this beautiful Street Art. I just love it. I love the color... I love the faces... I love it all. It reminds me of something I would find in Central America or Mexico. Very Mayan & Aztec.

Lime Green Mosque in India.

I have seen many mosques as I have traveled around the world, but never a lime green one. I walked forever to get to this thing and was obsessed with it. I love that it looks like a big lime lollipop... I just wanna lick it. Oh I do hate that the clouds are gray 🙁

Scary Dolls... hanging.

While visiting a temple in Varkala, we came across this huge tree in the middle of it that was filled with like a million dolls like this just hanging. They looked so creepy... we ended up photographing it a lot until we got kicked out. Apparently newlyweds buy a doll together make a wish and tie it to this tree to make it come true. Found that very interesting, but the dolls so creepy. I do love the color in this shot.

Varkala, Sunset

Sunset at Varkala Beach. Okay not quite sunset, but almost. I like this shot because I was able to capture a women caring a baby run from a wave, while a friend tried to get the stroller all while a profesional photographer was trying to capture that same very shot. I actually talked with the photographer for a bit and he even took a few photos of me. It was fun.

WEEK 63

Houseboat, Backwaters Kerala

Spent 3 days on a houseboat exploring the Backwaters of Kerala, so the majority of these photos are from that experience that I can not wait to write about. This is my favorite shot of them all... this is what we looked at the majority of the time as we made our way through at a slow pace. I was able to get this shot while we docked for the night. I love the perfect reflection of the far side of the photo obscured by things on the near side of the photo.

Houseboat, Backwaters Kerala

Beautiful sunset in the Backwaters of Kerala.

Houseboat, Backwaters Kerala

I used Dani's glasses to add an extra shade of brown to the photo. This is another houseboat that was passing us by at the time... You can see how peaceful this experience is. It's just you a few other houseboats and the endless rows of palm trees.

Houseboat, Backwaters Kerala

Evening time when the boat is docked. Nothing amazing but a for some reason I like this photo a lot.

Getting on a train in India!

Oh don't even get me started on this. We went to 3 of the most amazing days in my life... to 1 of my worst. This is a shot of what the entrance to the train looked like after we got out of it. For 5 hours we were crammed inside like fucking animals. No where to move, no where to escape if an emergency happened. I prayed and prayed and prayed the entire time. Not once in my life have I felt like this on any type of train ride. It was a nightmare. Not sure if I am going to write about it.

  1. Great photos. I love the one of the green mosque. The composition and the colour is great. I know it probably would’ve been better for you if the weather was a bit nicer, but I think the grey background really helps make the green stand out.

Thanks Alouise… I never thought about the grey sky making the green mosque stand out more. Now that you mention it I think it does help it.

  2. I agree with Alouise. The skies probably helped in the green mosque photo! Very unique and I’m glad you took a photo as I’ve never seen anything like it either!

I can’t wait to read about the house boat. It sounds like a great few days! Something I’d love to do.

As much as I want to travel to India, I’m not looking forward to train travel.

Thanks Heather, yeah I had never seen a lime green mosque… it blew my mind. I loved it. The houseboat is something everyone should do for sure. As for train travel in India… it’s a pain in the ass. Gives me nightmares.

  3. Gorgeous photograps! I agree with you about the creepiness of the dolls… have you ever visited Mexico City? The Island of the Dolls can be found just south, and is, quite probably, the oddest place I have ever been. Missing limbs, mouldy faces, that sort of thing. Yikes!

    • Jaime Davila says:

Thanks Sophie yes the dolls were so creepy. I have actually heard of the Island of Dolls near Mexico City, I have never been though. It’s a city I really wanna visit one day. I think when you get more than like 4 or 5 dolls together than it turns into something creepy like this…

  4. Nice shots! Especially loved that first pic and yes, those dolls one too.

Thanks… the green mosque is a great shot I like it a lot too. I had to double look at the 2nd to last photo… it is good too.

  6. Jimmy talking about trains have you gotten on the local train in Mumbai yet? that was one of my favorite (weirdest) experiences! 😀

  7. I love the pictures! I never thought about shooting through sunglasses to add a tint to the photo; it’s a good idea.

    • Jaime Davila says:

Thanks Anna & yeah grab some brown ones or different color shades to add tint to it. I also love using sunglasses to tak shots of the reflection on them.

  8. Great pictures! The lime green mosque is crazy! So sorry about the train, I hate that you had to go through that. Writing about it might help release the demons…or some shit like that…

Thanks Ali, yes I love the lime green mosque… Oh & as for the horrible train ride… I’m not gonna ride about it. Seriously it was HELL… & I mean it. It’s something I wouldn’t even know how to share it was that bad.

  9. Looooveee, the photo number 1! Grunginess always grab my attention, love taking picture of them!
