Oh & this is my 200th POST… that is just crazy never would I have thought I would have kept up with this whole blogging thing, but I have & I don’t think I will be stopping any time soon. So enjoy and let me know what you think below.

WEEK 45

Sultan Ahmed Mosque

This is a shot Sultan Ahmed Mosque (aka the famous Blue Mosque) at night from the entrance to the main courtyard. It was built from 1609 to 1616, during the rule of Ahmed I. The design is the culmination of two centuries of both Ottoman mosque and Byzantine church development.

Kiss in Istanbul!

Take a second and just look at this photo. I just love it... I don't like making photos black & white but sometimes some need to be and this is one of them. As we were wondering around Istanbul. I came across this intersection where a couple was holding each other. The girl was crying and the boy was comforting her. I don't know if they were breaking up, saying good bye or what, but it was an amazing moment to capture.

Sunset in Istanbul!

Need I say more... SUNSET from the GALATA TOWER in ISTANBUL!!! You all know I love Sunsets... and this was an amazing one I was able to watch. I am seriously in love with Istanbul!!! Like for real... in love!!!

Tram on Istiklal Avenue

One of the biggest and most recognized Avenue's in Istanbul is Istiklal Avenue. It is visited by nearly 3 million people in a single day. Even though it is jam packed everyday the old tram still manages to go up and down it on schedule with out a hitch. I love seeing it go buy, it makes me imagine I im in another decade... I also love watching locals jumping on the back of it or holding on the side hitching a ride down the Avenue.

Mosque of Istanbul

I have tried searching for the name of this Mosque everywhere... and can't find it. I have even asked and no one knows. It's a small Mosque a bit behind the Blue Mosque. This was by far the most beautiful Mosque I have ever been too. I loved the blue, and everything about it. Here is a shot from the low hanging lights.

WEEK 46

Library of Celsus

The famous Library of Celsus in Ephesus, Turkey. Ephesus was an ancient Greek city, and later a major Roman city. The Library of Celsus was built to store 12,000 scrolls and to serve as a monumental tomb for Celsus and was completed in 135AD. The structure is impressive and huge.

Pamukkale, Turkey!

Ahh Pamukkale, Turkey... one of the sites that is often mentioned in sights to see before you die. This place is amazing... the name literally means "Cotton Castle". I love this photo because you see the mineral deposits along with a reflection and the sun!

Pamukkale, Turkey

It's crazy to believe that people have bathed in these pools for thousands of years. I walked along barefoot to not damage the minerals or pools. It was a nice sunny day. This is the view from atop on the other side. Not many people bothered to walk all the way around & it's a pitty because that is where you see the true beauty.

Cappadocia, Turkey

Ahhh the famous CAPPADOCIA... it has so much history... like A LOT. I'll let ya read about it on Wikipedia. As for this photo... it's a shot of the cave houses all over the area. If you look closely you will see black holes in the rocks... those are formations made by people to make the rocks suitable to live in.

Cappadocia, Turkey

This is a shot from Rose Valley in Cappadocia also mentioned as sunset point for the amazing sunsets that can be seen from here. Sadly because of the cloudy weather no sunset happend, but I was able to capture this lone tree against some amazing scenery and clouds.

  6. Wow Jaime…absolutely breathtaking! When you get back home you need to put your energy and time in photography. That’s one of your many talents. I love the picture of the Blue Mosque, the couple kissing, Pamukkale and the picture of Cappadocia. Pamukkale is on our itinerary and so is Cappadocia. Did you get to go underground where the christians seeked refuge way back then? I bet it’s amazing down there! Oh, and on the picture of the mosque, would it be the Hagia Sophia? I am learning so much from your travels, Jaime! I’ve been reading about Turkey and trying to learn the basics of the language before I go. Two more months! Yay!!!

    • Thanks Rubi, that’s what I want to do when I get back. I want to buy a better camera and take a course or two. Ahh you are going to see all this soon how awesome. Yes I went to the underground city. It was very cool… so huge yet so tiny… I dont know how people lived down there. Oh & no that mosque was not Hagia Sophia or Blue Mosque… it’s another one. I know where it’s at so I’ll tell you how to get to it because it’s the prettiest one here in Istanbul. Two more months will fly by…

  7. That sunset IS amazing – I literally sighed. 🙂

  8. The black and white photo under the overpass and the kissing couple is worth alot much more than words can say. It captures the serenity of a loving couple that stops time in the midst of bustling crowd. Well taken.

  9. Pretty much a perfect look at the trip that Ali and I want to plan for spring. Istanbul, Capp, Ephesus and Pammakule.

    As always what beautiful pictures.

  14. Great capture, Jamie!!!! What camera u using? DSLR? Did u photoshop your photos?

    • Jaime Davila says:

Thanks June, nope not using a DSLR at least not yet. I am using ” target=”_blank”>Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W690 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom and 3.0-inch LCD (Silver) (2012 Model) I love my point & shot. It really allows me to capture some amazing shots. As for photoshop I rarely do anything to them I know I resize them and sometimes add a tint to them to make them all uniform.

  15. Congratulations on your 200th post, Jaime…Here’s to 200 Plus more!!
These are some amazing photos. I really like the ones of the mosques (the Blue Mosque is quite dramatic!), and I’m greatly touched by the b/w of the couple. Even if they’re breaking up, there’s a look of compassion and true feeling; one moment during the hustle and bustle of the day. Just beautiful. Thank you.
