Photo Round Up – Week 73 & 74

10 photo round up of what I saw/did these last 2 weeks. In this case just 5… sorry!!!

Hope you all enjoy them.

WEEK 73

View of Cairo, Egypt!

That is me… admiring the view of Cairo, Egypt from the Citadel. I had been looking forward to visiting the Citadel for a while because I didn’t visit it last time I was here. I was sadly very disappointed I just wasn’t impressed. It is still worth a visit if you visit Cairo, because the views of Cairo are spectacular.

God is the Greatest!

A door knob on a mosque that I just loved. I love this type of arabic writing and when I saw this loved it… it says “God is the Greatest”. I’d love to get something in the font tattooed on me. Not that exactly cus I’m not very religious, but who knows.

Paintings in Cairo!

As we were exploring the Northern Cemetery. Which is a cemetery where the tombs are built inside homes and people live in them and is known as “City of the Dead”. It’s strange I know, but I came across an old man selling paintings. I loved how he had them set up and was able to snap this photo. I didn’t realaize until I came home that even I came out in this photo. Can you spot me? I love the colors… I love how it’s set up… It draws me in for some reason.

Getting a hair cut in Cairo!

Getting my hair did… in Cairo!!! I love getting my hair cut around the world it’s always a unique experience.

The Great Pyramids of Giza!!!

THE GREAT PYRAMIDS OF GIZA… need I say more? Nope, but yup I visited them for the 2nd time and they still amazed me. I went back because I wanted to get this shot… right here! The 1st time I visited I didn’t see this view of the Pyramids and after I went home was disappointed, so made sure I visited them a 2nd time for it and well I did. I’m sure I will visit them a few more times before I leave.

WEEK 74

If you have been following me on Facebook or Twitter then you know I have agreed to participate in Ramadan with my boyfriend. In case you don’t know what that is. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which one must refrain from eating, drinking, sexual relations, forged speech & evil actions from sunrise to sunset. It started Friday July 20th and ends on the 18th of August. It is a time to cleanse the soul and focus attention on God. Even though I am not Muslim or very religious I respect him & will do it with him. Ramadan has always intrigued me and now that I am in a Muslim country think it will be amazing to experience it with them. This will be a huge test for me, but it is one I think I can manage. I have survived the 1st week and because it was my 1st week I didn’t do much. I mean it… all I did was sleep and hang out the guys. So far the experience has been amazing and I can’t wait to write about it. So I am sorry though because of this I will not be doing much exploring. It’s way to hot outside and know if I do I will not be able to drink water, so I’d rather play it safe.

  1. It is unbelievable there are no people around pyramids 🙂

I know I love that about this photo Vi. Sadly at the moment not many people are visiting Egypt because of the unrest (that is not even going on) & it is also off season because it’s in the middle of the summer and the heat is unbearable. It worth all the sweat to get this shot of the pyramids.

  2. Are you not allowed to drink any water? I can see alcohol , but no water in all that heat . Mind over matter…. Be careful and don’t over do it!

    • Jaime Davila says:

Yeah JT, during the fasting hours you are not allowed to drink water either. It hasn’t been all that hard except in the mornings when I wake up and am so damn thirsty. That is why I haven’t done much during the day because I know if I do I won’t survive and break my fast. I wanna make it all 30 days.

  3. I love the pic with you getting your hair cut, but my fave is the orange (?) and blue from the mosque. I love those colors together and it’s a fab pic.

    • Jaime Davila says:

Thank you very much yTraveller, so far it’s been easy yet so hard. The morning are hard because I wake up so thirsty, but then the evening are hard when I have a few hours before fasting. I’m hanging in there and yup still have many days to go.
