Music Monday – Papa Americano

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Monday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

SONG – Papa Americano

ARTIST – Various

LYRICS – I am not posting lyrics for this one. You have to hear it to love it!!! Plus a million version are out there so was not sure which one to post.

LISTEN TO IT HERE –
This is the original song.

This is the version you will here in Nicaragua. It talks about how the Rio San Juan is theres and says horrible things about Costa Rica.

This is the most popular version that I have been hearing everywhere. I even got to see this exact video on a Chicken Bus. Yes some chicken buses have tvs in them.

WHY I PICKED IT – Have you ever had a song that just follows you everywhere while you are on vacation, away from home or even around your home town? Well I always have songs follow me while I am on vacation even though I am not on vacation backpacking around Central America was no different. I am officially out of Central America and have no clue when I will ever go back. For this Music Monday I thought I would post the song that followed me through out all Central America. Yes the songs above have followed me everywhere. I have heard them at clubs, bars, chicken buses, streets, stores… EVERYWHERE!!! Now anytime I hear this song it will forever trigger memories of Central America. Don’t you love that music has the power to do that? What songs have followed you around on your travels? Post a link I would love to hear them.

It makes fun of the Italians that wanted to look like Americans… sooo funny!
And I think the original one is the best.:)
