Music Monday – Libertad

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Monday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

WHY I PICKED IT – I know this song is in spanish, but I really hope you take a second to watch the video and listen to it. This song is by gay Mexican singer Christian Chavez and his friend Anahi. The message of the song is very simple all we want is our liberty. He sings about not having to hide who he is and that all we want is liberty for everyone. Through out the video you will see footage of people who have strong hate towards the GLBT community and images of men hung. It’s a very powerful video that even though is filled with a cliche gay scene I’m glad is being watched around the world. The reason I picked this song is because on Saturday I was able to attend Amsterdam Gay Pride and think this song is suitable for what all GLBT people are fighting for around the world… LIBERTY!!!
