Music Monday – Unwritten

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Monday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

SONG – Unwritten

ARTIST – Natasha Bedingfield

LYRICS –

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, yeah, yeah

LISTEN TO IT HERE – Unwritten, Natasha Bedingfield

WHY I PICKED IT – I picked this song because a few days ago I turned 100+ days on the road. I still can’t believe I have been on the road that long. It seems like just yesterday I hit the road. I remember all the fears I had and doubts and questions and now 100+ days in all those fears and doubts and questions have turned into “wow I have seen so much what else am I going to see?”. My future is “UNWRITTEN” I broke tradition and am now seeing and doing things I never thought would have been possible. I wanna tell every one that your future is “UNWRITTEN” as well. It is up to you to write it the way you want. It’s a blank page fill it with what is going to make you happy. Read the lyrics even though the song may be cheesy she really is sending a message that more people should learn.

  3. Ooohh I’d forgotten about this song! It used to play on a loop when I was at university and working a horrible job at a clothing store…lol. But it always got me thinking about the places I was going to go after uni – it is cheesy, but still inspiring!

    • Ahhh the horirble jobs we have had to get where we wanna go. It’s a great song to remind us that it’s up to us to fill the pages.

  4. I have a friend who loves this song so much. When we were in college, she was more eager to travel than i do. Right now, she is still in her call center job and still stuck there. Might as well ask her how she is now 0_0

    • Oh man thats not good. Tell your friend to shoot me a message I will encourage & help her to breakaway if that is what she wants to do.

  5. I’ve always loved this song. It’s a nice reminder that even if you’re getting older, there’s so much blank space in your book left to be filled in!
