Music Monday – Just a Kiss

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Monday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

SONG – Just a Kiss

ARTIST – Lady Antebellum

LYRICS –

Lyin’ here with you so close to me

It’s hard to fight these feelings when it feels so hard to breathe
Caught up in this moment
Caught up in your smile

I’ve never opened up to anyone
So hard to hold back when I’m holding you in my arms
We don’t need to rush this
Let’s just take this slow

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch in the fire burning so bright
And I don’t want to mess this thing up
I don’t want to push too far
Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life
So baby I’m alright, with just a kiss goodnight

I know that if we give this a little time
It will only bring us closer to the love we wanna find
It’s never felt so real, no it’s never felt so right

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch in the fire burning so bright
And I don’t want to mess this thing up
I don’t want to push too far
Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life
So baby I’m alright, with just a kiss goodnight

No I don’t want to say goodnight
I know it’s time to leave, but you’ll be in my dreams
Tonight
Tonight
Tonight

Just a kiss on your lips in the moonlight
Just a touch in the fire burning so bright
And I don’t want to mess this thing up
I don’t want to push too far
Just a shot in the dark that you just might
Be the one I’ve been waiting for my whole life
So baby I’m alright, oh, let’s do this right, with just a kiss goodnight
With a kiss goodnight
Kiss goodnight

WHY I PICKED IT – This is another song I hadn’t heard until I got back home. I love country music and love watching music videos. While I was home I would DVR a few hours of country music videos and then just watch them. I came across this and something caught my eye… the video features BACKPACKERS backpacking ACROSS EUROPE. Of course I always listen to lyrics so I listened to the song a few times and YES this is a BACKPACKERS song. I have not experienced this yet because I have yet to come across another gay backpacker & well that doesn’t mean I would experience this anyway. I just love the lyrics to this song because it is so true. It’s a song about people meeting having a great time in the moment with each other and then having to say good bye. I know this is true because I saw one of my fav travel buddies go through this while she was on the road. It must be hard, but hopefully I get to experience it one day. So I know a lot of backpackers read my blog… have any of you experienced this???

  1. Wow, I’ve fallen in love with Lady Antebellum all over again. Especially that Charles. Still as hot as ever.

I miss hearing all the new country music from home. Thank you for showing me this. And to answer your question . . . it’s happened once so far on my trip. It wasn’t with another backpacker(like you, I haven’t come across another gay backpacker), it was with a local. It was still like this in a way. Very fast, very intense, and it sucked having to say goodbye.

    • I know me too… I love this group. Im ready for their 3rd album… hope its as good as the 1st 2!

I do miss listening to new country music… I often will find out about songs through FB that my friends post but other than that not really.

Love your story… “with a local” LUCKY BITCH jajaja. I want that too… mine are just flings…lol!!! Ugh but yes I bet it was hard to say good bye. Just a few more days till Amsterdam!!!

  2. Wow!! I just love this videooo…yes it brought back some very sweet memories. =))) Wow, I remember the one time while traveling that I felt close to another backpacker, had a special time together and then suddenly we had to say goodbye even though we both didn’t really want to. After we lost touch and it was over just like that! Honestly I don’t think I could do that again…it was really hard and very weird to me…made me question how special or superficial it all really was. This experience inspired me to write “Travel Dating,” remember?? hahaha Anyways, you know i’m not a country fan, but I just love the video and really love the lyrics to this song. I freaking miss youuuu!!! I have soo much to tell youuuu…let’s try to skype next week k!…;)))

    • Aww this went to spam… i just approved it. BLOG SUPERXICANA IS NOT SPAM!!!

So yes when I watched this video for the 1st time I thought of you. I know it’s something that must be hard, but at the same time I think it is something that we have to allow happen every once in a while especially when we are on the road for so long. I remember your Travel Dating post and this song just make it all perfect, it lets you know you aren’t alone…

P.S. you should give country music a chance… some of the best songs I have ever heard are country s ongs. Lyrics in country music are just so amazing!!!

      • Superxicana says:

I definitely do not regret it!!! I loved how intense it all was…very special…I just didn’t like the saying good bye part…at the same time I took it as another lesson of letting go. I agree…everyone should experience this at least once in their life, especially while traveling long term =))))

P.S. Does Shania Twain count??? Cause I love her music =)) hahaha

        • Of course the saying good bye must be the hardest part… could totally see why. Oh & yes Shania Twain does count… glad she is slowly coming back!!!

  3. I love this song! And your pick from last week! I am just like you, being away for so long meant that I definitely did not know what music was new and hot when I came back! Italy likes to play the same 5 songs over and over and 3 of them are ridiculous and could never be famous anywhere else.

    Great picks! 🙂

    • Glad you like them Annie. Yeah being away from home does do that… I found quite a bit of new songs & am glad I did. How long are you in Italy for? I will be there soon…

  4. Love Lady A. I saw them open for someone back when they were just starting to make it big. Loved them ever since.

    Good choice my friend.

  5. Jimmy jajaja I know you must be screeching your teeth at that name but figured I’d type for ol’ times sake jajaja. Well traveling doesn’t just give you the possibility of a cute romance but odd sparks as well! don’t get me wrong I’ve had several travel infatuations that continue with e-mails and chats and slowly fade in a good traveling memories. I do have to say though in India several years ago I had a marriage proposal at the Mumbai airport. I did not know this guy mind you and he actually began a conversation with me while I was sound asleep waiting for my flight. It was definitely an experience I will always remember with a big smile, even though at the time it was kinda freaky! jajaja ahhh traveling romance!

    • OMG YOU MADE MY DAY BRENDA!!!!! I CAN”T BELIEVE YOU COMMENTED!!!!

Ahhh I love that you called me Jimmy… only a few of you call me that and it makes me smile!!!

Anyway about your comment. I think that is how just about all travel romances end and last a bit afterwards and then fade into memories… I never thought about it like that but yeah thats how it must be! After you travel life goes on for the both of you and well good times fade into memories.

I didn’t know about the marriage proposal that is crazy… what if you had said yes? That reminds me of the movie “My Best Friends Wedding” I am sure you have seen it. Where they dont even know each other but they proposed on a subway. That must have been an awesome feeling, but yeah a little freaky. Now I want someone to propose to me while Im in INDIA…jajaja!
