Segway tour of Amsterdam!!!

Recently Brandon from BestDam Segway Tours approached me on Twitter to take a segway tour of my choice for free during my stay in Amsterdam. Me being me (cheap) of course couldn’t pass up that offer. I knew I was going to be traveling with Corey from Where’s Waldner so I immediately asked if he can come along as well. Brandon said “yes”.

I got sooooo excited for many reasons

1) I was going to be using a Segway & I’ve always wanted to ride one.

2) I was going to be taking a Segway tour and it’s going to be free.

3) This was the 1st time I get something for free thanks to my blog.

Brandon gave me the details of what I needed to do and how to sign up and book the tours so I did. The funny thing is not once did he mention for me to write a blog post about it in return. I honestly think the least I can do is write a blog post about it, because I actually enjoyed it a lot.

After he told me abut the offer I went to the website and looked over it… I had 3 to choose from.

  • Amsterdamse Bos Ride

Often missed by visitors, the Amsterdamse Bos is a beautiful nature preserve that spans almost 2500 acres, yet is located just minutes from the city center. It is one of the largest city parks in Europe with more than 150 km of paths perfect for exploring on the Segway. Passengers take turns choosing unique paths and leading the group on a one-of-a-kind ride through the woods. Escape the bustle of the city center for a fun and peaceful ride with spectacular views you can’t miss.

I immediately knew I wanted to do the Amsterdam City Tour. I thought how cool would that be Segway my way around Amsterdam. I couldn’t stop EEEeeee-ing I was so excited. Finally our date came and it was time to meet up and do the tour.

A shot of our Tour Guide - Richard in action during our segway tour of Amsterdam.

We were instructed to meet at Bilderdijk Park. After getting lost a bit we made our way there and at the sight of the Segways I couldn’t contol my self I was so excited. We finally met up with Richard our tour guide and two other tourists. The 1st few minutes were spent filling out paper work and listening to instructions from him on how they work. Then it was the moment of truth. It was time to get on the Segway… Inside I felt so giddy, I stepped on it and couldn’t stop laughing. It was easy breezy… we all practiced a bit in the park to get the hang of it and we all caught on fast. I was so happy and kept thinking “I FEEL LIKE A KID AGAIN”… when you are on it you really do feel like a lil kid again so excited to be doing something so fun!

A shot of me on the Segway. So much fun, cool & fast.

Then it was time to hit the road. If you have ever been to Amsterdam you know it’s pretty chaotic on the bike line, because bikes can use them along with small-motorized vehicles.  All we had to do was follow Richard our tour guide and doing that was very easy. We zipped around the city with a few stops here & there so he could tell us the history or story behind many things in the city. While we zipped through the city I FELT LIKE A CELEBRITY everyone looks at you and giggles and points at you while saying “WOW SEGWAY”.

Corey & I on our Segways in front of I AMSTERDAM sign!

After being on the Segway for so long you really do get the hang of it and don’t even think about what it is you need to do and just do it. After a while you start thinking its your mind controlling the Segway, but its not the case. Sadly the tour had to come to an end. I must say I enjoyed the Segway tour a lot, I learned a lot of things about Amsterdam I wouldn’t have other wise. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Amsterdam to check them out and do it. It is very much worth it to feel like a kid again or hell even like a celebrity for a few hours.
