Music Monday – Change

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Monday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

WHY I PICKED IT – This isn’t my 1st time picking Tracy Chapman. Last time was when I had never even heard of her and chose Fast Car. I recently acquired more of her music and damn I can not stop listening to it. Her voice may not be amazing, but sure is unique and her lyrics for all her songs are amazing. I love that all her songs are about life and things people may be going through in life. I picked this song because the word CHANGE alone is such a powerful word. It is something we may have told our selfs to do many times, but never follow through. After listening to this song for the 1st time I was left in awe… I thought I wonder how many people would change for these reasons. I know I have changed in the last few years. I know especially after my DWI I changed for the better. Before I started this trip I had a million things I wanted to change about my life now I could honestly say that I did change and changed for the better. Like I mention in my About Me page… “I do believe “everything happens for a reason” and know that all the choices I have made in the past have brought me to where I am today.”. Now it’s your turn what are you doing in life to change for the better. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic just a small change that will make you a better person. I love all the questions she asks in this song… I can just play it over and over and over again. I wish the world would change for the better, but well I can only do my part and hope for the best. So go ahead listen to the song and try to answer these questions for yourself.
