Addicted to coke in India…

HI MY NAME IS JAIME AND I AM ADDICTED TO COKE.

No silly not the type you snort, but the type you drink that is sold all over the world. Okay well the other type is also sold all over the world, but yeah I’ve tried it and never liked it. Plus I’m happy I didn’t get addicted to it… that would have been an expensive habit. The drinking Coke however… I love & have a confession to make. I am addicted to Coke like I am addicted to cheap hotels. I have been drinking way to much of it. I think I have consumed more coke in the 3 months I was in India then the rest of my trip combined. I’m not kidding… I think a few factors have made this happen.

  1. It’s so damn cheap. A bottle of Coke ranges from $0.20 to at most $0.60 depending on the size.
  2. India is not a BEER drinking country. It’s just not… So I didn’t drink much beer until I made it to the beach towns. If I can have a beer with a meal & it’s cheap… I’ll go for the beer. I love beer.
  3. Sometimes it’s so damn hot or I had a rough day I just want a Coke… not a bottle of water.
I have no clue why, but I managed to take many photos of the cokes I drank. So I thought why not make a post on it… It’s just crazy the amount of coke I drank. I have no fucking clue how I have managed to loose over 30lbs over the last 15 months traveling. Here a few photos that I thought were EPIC… jaja jk, but that I will caption with a bit of sarcasm.

EEEEeeeeeee I HAVE A COKE IN MY HAND!!!

Addicted to Coke

Oh oh… look at this amazing/epic/original shot of the world famous Coca-Cola logo.

Addicted to Coke

Thums Up… an India original, until purchased by Coke… whomp whomp.
It taste more like medicine anyway than a soft drink… didn’t like it too much, but it would do when Coca-Cola was not available.

Addicted to Coke

DON’T YOU WANTA… WANTA FANTA???
Ugh I hate that I have a love hate relationship with Fanta… See I recently discovered that Coca-Cola started this soft drink to be able to continue selling to the Nazi’s in during WWII. No joke read more about it here. It’s crazy…

Addicted to Coke

I’m not monogamis with what I drink… Sorry Coke I cheated on you with Pepsi on several occasions. Like when you weren’t available to fulfill my needs.

P.S. I am monogamis when I am in a relationship. I don’t cheat… I’m not Joey.

Addicted to Coke

I took this by chance with my point & shoot… I love that the focus is on the 500.

Addicted to Coke

Oooooohhhh… SO COLORFUL!!!

Addicted to Coke!

Oh yeah the logo one more time!!!

Addicted to Coke

Awww so cute… drinking away my life. I think Coke does more harm to you than beer…
That’s something I think… I have no medical evidence to prove it.

Ugh I know I drank way to much of it… and I know it’s not healthy. I just find it crazy that in Europe I will pay almost $2 for what I am paying less than $0.60 in India. Anywho now that I am back in Egypt I won’t be drinking much of it because even though it is still cheap it’s not as cheap. Plus I am also trying to work on my fitness and well I don’t need the extra calories.

So now I wanna know… where have you been that you got addicted to something you knew was not healthy for you, but it was found everywhere and for cheap? Like Coca-Cola, chips, beer or Pupusas in El Salvador. You can be honest… if it was the other Coke or some other types of drug… I won’t judge.

  1. I never caught onto the cheap cokes in India. I was a bit addicted to the 10 rupees Chai! Lol. In Japan, Gerard and I couldn’t stop eating green tea ice cream cones! Haha

Green tea ice cream cones… omg I missed those. I never saw them. Even though I can’t lie I ate a lot of ice cream too while I was there. It was so cheap too. I mean it’s crazy how many things are so cheap there. I indulged a lot that is for sure.

  2. You sure this blog post wasn’t sponsored by Coca-Cola? Just joking with you – I’m partial to the stuff myself. But beer is definitely better! Thums Up looks cool by the way.

Jaja Simon no it wasn’t. I wish they would sponsor me… that would awesome. Oh trust me when beer is cheaper than water like in some places ive been that is what i drink. Oh & Thums Up is cool.. just the taste can sometimes not be so great.

  3. Coke is my guilty pleasure as well. I grew up on it. Can’t help it sometimes I just need an ice cold coke. I prefer can to bottle though… Call me crazy 😉 I like it ice cold where that first sip burns your throat! Oh so good!

Alexandra, I should have mentioned that too. I prefer bottle as well… it just taste so much better. Oh & when it’s freezing cold it hurts to swallow… that is a good feeling.

  5. Cute pictures Jaime! I think I drink more Coke when I travel too. Though I do have enough of a caffeine addiction to need at least one Coke a day. It’s not worth the agony to stop drinking it.

Thanks Ali & yeah I think we got addicted to Coke for real, because we felt like we needed at least one Coke a day to survive. Oh & I love it yeah it’s so not worth the agony to stop drinking. Lucky for me here in Egypt I am addicted to another soda it’s called Miranda, kinda like Fanta and its green apple flavor. So damn good.

  6. Ok I know this whole thing is about Coke but fuck Coke for a second. Let’s talk about how adorable you are!

  7. I am not a pop drinker but I LOVE Fanta when traveling, I think because most places use real sugar instead of corn syrup like at home so it reminds me of when I was young.

Ayngelina, yeah I love FANTA too. Oh & yes I love that abroad they use real ummm EVERYTHING unlike at home.

  8. That’s a lot of Coca Cola! And you still lost 30 lbs, huh?!? Wow, you look so slim and trim! It really shows how much you’ve changed physically. I agree Coke is more damaging than beer; it’s so acidic it can eat paint off a car, so I can’t imagine what it does to your insides.

I know it’s so much Coke that I had in India it’s crazy & yup I still managed to loose weight… have no clue how. Oh & yes that is why I think Coke is more dangerous then beer… it’s just crazy harmful.

  9. I love Diet coke in foreign countries. It tastes so much better.

I had way too much ice cream in Buenos Aires. I wasn’t eating it every day, but even twice a week was A LOT for me.

Stephanie, oh I’ve heard about the ice cream in Buenos Aires… I think I would have the same problem too if I was there.

  10. Hey Jamie. I personally don’t like soda, any kind at all. But i can still remember time when I did, and I’m not going to lie…Coke was definitely my favorite (Coca-Cola floats are WAAAYYY better than rootbeer floats). I would have to say that I have recently become addicted to pepperjack cheese. I eat it on EVERYTHING! It’s just sooo good!

    • Jaime Davila says:

Oh yes Katie, Coke floats are so much better than root beer floats. You being addicted to PJ Cheese reminds me of the month I spent in Athens and was addicted to FETA cheese.

  11. We were definitely addicted to pupusas in El Salvador, too!! We definitely always find something we’re addicted to – bread and cheese in France, pizza in Italy, Pad Thai in Thailand, … the list is endless! Luckily we gave up soda though a couple of years ago, we were seriously addicted to Diet Coke. I can see your next addiction already though – $0.25 beers in Vietnam, $0.50 beers in Cambodia 😉

    • Jaime Davila says:

Yeah I think I am the same way Dani, getting addicted to something in every country. I can’t wait to get addicted to Pad Thai in Thailand… oh & of course the beer all over SEAsia… trust I already have in mind to “try” and take a photo of every bucket I drink and also all the beer I drink. Hot mess I know… lord I hope that is not my cause of death. That would be so embarrassing.
