Music Monday – Ka-Ching!

Anyone who meets me knows I love music. I love all types… ummm okay I love most types of music. For me its about the lyrics and what it is the artist is talking about or what message they are trying to convey. I love to dissect a song and its lyrics completely. Every Maonday I want to post a song that either inspires me, makes me think about the world we live in, motivates me to always be who I am or may be something I was feeling at some point. It will be a great mix of different types of music and hope it will also do the same for you. I love to think that music captures what so many of us may be feeling or want to say, but don’t know how.

SONG – Ka-Ching!

ARTIST – Shania Twain

LYRICS

We live in a greedy little world
That teaches every little boy and girl
To earn as much as they can possibly
Then turn around and
Spend it foolishly

We’ve created us a credit card mess
We spend the money we don’t possess
Our religion is to go and blow it all
So it’s shoppin’ every Sunday at the mall

All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
It’s such a beautiful thing–Ka-ching!
Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You’ll live like a king
With lots of money and things

When you’re broke go and get a loan
Take out another mortgage on your home
Consolidate so you can afford
To go and spend some more when you get bored

All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
It’s such a beautiful thing–Ka-ching!
Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You’ll live like a king
With lots of money and things

Let’s swing
Dig deeper in your pocket
Oh, yeah, ha
Come on I know you’ve got it
Dig deeper in your wallet
Oh

All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
It’s such a beautiful thing–Ka-ching!
Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You’ll live like a king
With lots of money and things

Can you hear it ring
It makes you wanna sing
You’ll live like a king
With lots of money and things
Ka-ching!

LISTEN TO IT HERE – Ka-Ching! – Shania Twain

WHY I PICKED IT – I had never heard this song until the other day my boyfriend randomly played it while we were in the car driving around Cairo. I heard the 1st lyrics “We live in a greedy little world” and asked him to turn it up… and then I fell in LOVE. I had no clue it was Shania Twain… one of my favorite country singers. After hearing it I kept it in mind and thought I will use this for a Music Monday one day. Didn’t think that day would be so soon, but it fits so well with a conversation I had with Giulia from Travel Reportage here in Cairo. I don’t remember what we were talking about, but something about DEBT & AMERICA. She stopped me and asked what is this “DEBT” word you keep using? In my mind I was like no way… how does she not know this word? Well come to find out it’s not easy for the people of Italy to get in DEBT and if they do they are looked at as CRAZY. Oh the irony, because in America it’s the exact opposite you are the crazy one if you do NOT have DEBT. I mean really we are taught from a very young age (18) how to use credit cards and how to get in DEBT and stay in DEBT. It’s the AMERICAN DREAM… really

“When you’re broke go and get a loan
Take out another mortgage on your home
Consolidate so you can afford
To go and spend some more when you get bored”

I don’t wanna hate on people living this life because it used to be. I used to live in DEBT and use my credit card often and bought things I didn’t need or could afford, but am glad to say I woke up from that “DREAM” and got my self out of DEBT and saved enough for this two year trip around the world. I know now when I get back I will never buy anything I can not afford or have the money for. I have actually learned that I can live with so much less. Anyway I can go on and on about this subject but won’t I just hope people listen to this song and realize how 100% true it is about the “AMERICAN DREAM” & wake up from it and stop living this life, because it’s not healthy.

What do you think… is this you or someone you know? Share it with people… maybe this will help them realize a few things.
