A is for Airplane, B is for Backpack, C is for … My travel ABC’s!

I was recently invited by to participate in “My Travel ABC’s” by Ben from Adventures with Ben– an alphabetized summary of my travels. So enjoy a trip down every single letter of the alphabet and trip down some awesome-ness!!!

A: Age you went on your first international trip:

Oh I must have been days or months old when my parents took me on my 1st international trip to Mexico. I have so much family there so as a kid I grew up going to Mexico many times. However my own 1st international trip aside from Mexico was at the start of this trip to Costa Rica. Here you can read my thoughts on the 1st 48hrs of this trip.

Drinking Beer

—DRINKING BEER IN BELGIUM—

B: Best (foreign) beer you’ve had and where:

Oh shit I LOVE BEER… like LOVE IT, but umm I don’t care about the brand or anything so never pay attention. I would say some of the best beer I have drank was in Belgium and Germany.

C: Cuisine (favorite):

One of my favorite fancy expensive meals I have ate was in Paris… I loved it so much I even wrote about it in a post called What does Paris taste like? It was raw meat… yes you read right… raw meat! I never thought it would have ever tasted good, but it really was very good!

Playa del Carmen

—I WANT TO LIVE HERE AT SOME POINT IN MY LIFE – PLAYA DEL CARMEN—

D: Destinations, favorite, least favorite and why:

My favorite country is Nicaragua, but so far one of my favorite destinations has been Playa del Carmen, Mexico & Barcelona, Spain. Both of those cities were just amazing. Loved everything about them. As for least favorite I hated Fez, Morocco so much I even wrote about it too.

E: Event you experienced abroad that made you say “wow”:

I have many naughty moments that have made me say wow, but I’ll stick to amazing moments that really moved me. I have so many to choose from, but I’ll go with when I visited the Sahara Desert in Morocco. That right there seriously change me in more ways then I can explain. I even wrote an open letter to the Sahara Desert.

Central America Chicken Bus

—OH YEAH A CHICKEN BUS—

F: Favorite mode of transportation:

CHICKEN BUSES… jaja I kid I kid… no for me my favorite mode of transportation is the cheapest… I don’t care if it’s a bus, plane, train, shared ride, anything that is cheap I’m down.

G: Greatest feeling while traveling:

“HOLY SHIT IM ACTUALLY HERE” ←that feeling right there is the best feeling ever… I have had that feeling many times but my most memorable ones are when I was in the Sahara Desert, Chefchaouen and in Venice. Just click the links to see the photos… who wouldn’t feel like that!

H: Hottest place you’ve traveled to:

Hmmm I’m not sure… I have been to many that are so hot, but none I would say are extreme.

I: Incredible service you’ve experienced and where:

A small dusty little town in the mountains of El Salvador called Perquin. We went there to visit a museum not many people go to visit. About a massacre that happen in the 80’s. Like literally there is nothing in this tiny town and then when we got there we were so hungry and were told to visit this house on the side so we did. When we got there we were welcomed to a home that had dirt floors and wooden walls. The family that owned it treated us so well and made us a delicious breakfast. In the end talked for hours and the kids took us swimming in a local river. It was is INCRDIBLE.

J: Journey that took the longest:

It wasn’t my longest, but was one of my most interesting. Diary of a Transportation Day!

Traca Tracas from Nicaragua!

—TRACA TRACAS—

K: Keepsake from your travels:

When I was in Nicaragua I noticed everyone in this town had TRACA TRACAS. From that moment on I was obsessed with them and even bought one. Now it’s at home and is one of the best things I have ever bought on the road. The best thing is it cost me less than $1.

Hollywood Sign

—SO TINY IN REAL LIFE—

L: Let-down sight, why and where:

Oh now that I have seen so many I actually have a few. The HOLLYWOOD sign in Los Angeles and the STATUE of LIBERTY in New York and MONA LISA in Paris were al huge let downs… they are all just so small. I was disappointed.

M: Moment where you fell in love with travel:

A spontaneous trip to Los Angeles is when I knew I wanted to keep going and see more!

N: Nicest hotel you’ve stayed in:

I’ll say HOSTEL since I am a BACKPACKER… the nicest hostel I have ever stayed at is Hostel 3B in Playa del Carmen. If you are going there you MUST stay in this hostel… I loved everything about it.

Street art in Athens!

—STREET ART IN ATHENS—

O: Obsession—what are you obsessed with taking pictures of while traveling?:

Oh lord I have so many, I take photos of just about everything I eat. I also love taking photos of signs and weird statues and bright houses. I am also obsessed with taking photos of street art every where I go. I love street art… I think it’s amazing. I have so many IN PHOTOS of street art from several cities around the world ready. I just need to publish them, but know it will be a while before I do so.

P: Passport stamps, how many and from where?

NINE – Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, Europe, Morocco.

Q: Quirkiest attraction you’ve visited and where:

The entire city of Brussels is just so quirky… they are OBSESSED with peeing statues.

Sahara Desert

—AHHH THE SAHARA—

R: Recommended sight, event or experience:

Oh so many, but I’ll stick with the SAHARA DESERT or VENICE… it’s something I think everyone should see once in their lives!

S: Splurge; something you have no problem forking over money for while traveling:

Ummm I really don’t splurge on much on the road… every once in a while I will go for a nice or fancy dinner, but that is about it.

T: Touristy thing you’ve done:

Oh lord really??? Ugh we are all tourist… so I’m gonna say everything I do.

U: Unforgettable travel memory:

I have many, I have no clue where to start and don’t think I can just pick one… so I guess check out any of the stories on my blog! I tend to write about the memorable moments… and well sometimes down moments too.

V: Visas, how many and for where?

ZERO, but that will soon change as I apply for my VISA to India! I need to stop being scared and actually apply. I will next week for sure. I promise.

Italian Wine

—YUMMY ITALIAN WINE—

W: Wine, best glass of wine while traveling and where?:

I’m not much a wine drinker… and when I do it’s normally cheap white wine that leaves you a hangeover from hell. Like what we did for Thanksgiving in Rome.

X: eXcellent view and from where?

Atop of the many volcanoes I climbed in Central America! They are a pain to climb, but once you are on top ah the views are like no other.

Y: Years spent traveling?:

I don’t know how to answer this… since I have been traveling since I was a baby. So I guess 25! Okay no not really I would say about 3 years because it was then when I went on my trip to Los Angeles that made me want to travel so much more.

Z: Zealous sports fans and where?:

Oh I have no clue about sports… I just know the world loves “FOOTBALL” – “SOCCER”.
